This stand-alone class will be designed to incorporate professional learning from the social studies team at the GaDOE.

How to Read a Source: Literacy Strategies for Text and Non-Text Primary Sources and Artifacts - When we ask students to be historians (and political scientists, geographers, and economists), they must interact with the source material historians use. However, those materials can be hard to find and hard for students to read. In this session, we will look at a variety of primary sources and artifacts to uncover ways that students' existing reading strategies can serve as tools to help them "read" those materials like historians. (Dec. 7 - GaDOE)

AUDIENCE: 6-12 grade Social Studies Teachers, Academic Coaches, Administrators
