Course Description
 More Details

In each session, we will introduce a new topic and some stories around it with research or evidence and then give you an assignment to try prior to the next session. As the next session begins, we will spend approximately 15 minutes reviewing the lesson from the session before, thirty minutes on the new information, and 15 minutes on the next assignment to implement before our follow-up meeting.

Sessions will be geared Pre-K through 12th grade and examples will be given for implementation if they are different for the grade levels.

Join us 3/4/24 & 3/18/24. You must register for each session separately.  A Zoom link will be sent to the email address listed on your NWGA RESA profile prior to each session.

Session Two:
First, we will define the difference between a meltdown and a tantrum for our purposes. Then we will talk about the part of the brain called the amygdala and how to interrupt the amygdala hijack through proactive strategies we can teach to our students. This will be a three-part series with implementation strategies to build on for each session.

Participants will learn:
What the amygdala does in the brain and how it flips the prefrontal cortex off-line
What we can teach to students to help them understand their own brain and body signs
Specific examples for helping students understand their brain

Audience: NWGa RESA Classroom Teachers
