Course Description
 More Details

In each session, we will introduce a new topic and some stories around it with research or evidence and then give you an assignment to try prior to the next session. As the next session begins, we will spend approximately 15 minutes reviewing the lesson from the session before, thirty minutes on the new information, and 15 minutes on the next assignment to implement before our follow-up meeting.

Sessions will be geared Pre-K through 12th grade and examples will be given for implementation if they are different for the grade levels.

A Zoom link will be sent to the email address listed on your NWGA RESA profile prior to each session.

Session Four:
People always tell kids to “use their words” when the child is upset; however, very few people have actually taught the words to the children. By the time they get to their teenage years in some cases it is out of control. We need to teach students a three strand through process for how to speak to someone when their amygdala has been triggered. Our children will not graduate from school and gain employment and lose that job because they do not know how to read or write, they will lose that job because they do not know how to get along with others, take constructive criticism, ask for help, or have a civil disagreement with someone.

Participants will learn:
What psychiatrists say we should teach people to say when they wish to convey an emotion
What Dr. Riffel feels is important to add to this strand, so we are not in the business of solving all conflicts
Why it is important to proactively teach these skills.

Audience: NWGa RESA Classroom Teachers
